The Crystal Mosque of Terengganu
is the icon of Taman Tamadun Islam and Kuala Terengganu City-the Waterfront
Heritage City. It is considered unique as it is the first and only mosque
builds from steel and glass hence the crystal-like image. The mosque was constructed
between 2006 and 2008. It was officially opened on 8 February 2008 by 13th Yang
di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin of Terengganu.
Sitting atop the surface of the
Terengganu River, this magnificently mesmerizing mosque is truly a sight to
behold. With beautifully crafted frosted glass windows and meticulous
calligraphy, it instills in the visitor a sense of serene and peaceful piety.
As a place to worship Him, it is precisely this that is seeked: an ambience
that puts you in a peaceful state of mind.
700 Muslims are able to prostrate
themselves in prayer in the designated prayer hall which measures approximately
950 square feet. This comfortable hall is made even more so as it is fully
air-conditioned and equipped with modern amenities.
